We have dreamed up ways to up date the exterior of our house over the winter, and now that it is nice out, its time to make it happen! The Hubby and I take pretty different approaches to remodel projects… he makes excel spread sheets complete with the cost and type of screws we’ll use, and I make Pintrest boards full of over-the-top ideas that, to be honest, will most likely never make it in to our final design plan. (and that’s probably for the best!)
This is what we are starting with:
These are the things we can’t change: White siding, no overhang over the door (trust me, I was making plans to get a cute little tin roof over that door and make a tiny porch under it. That was one of my over-the-top ideas that I needed to let go of if we wanted to stay within a reasonable budget) and finally, the style of shutters.
We started with the door, we found this awesome craftsmen style door as the Habitat Restore (for $40!! score!) I plan to strip it down and refinish it with a rich dark walnut stain… fingers crossed the wood underneath is up for the challenge!
Our other plans include painting the shutters a deep muted green, and adding a window box under the small window to the left of the door. This is our color inspiration photo (courtesy of Pintrest, of course;):
So here we go! Let the makeover begin!
